2014 finds me back at Clearview High School for another A.I.E. residency. This year we are creating bowls to sell in order to raise money for local food pantries." Empty Bowls" is a wonderful way for clay artists to give to their communities. I am really enjoying teaching students many different ways of handbuilding ceramic bowls. Clearview High School will be hosting the Empty Bowl event in May of 2014.

Wallace School Vineland
Last Spring I was fortunate enough to have many projects to keep the creative juices flowing! After finishing at Clearview High School, I worked with a small group of students at Wallace Middle School in Vineland NJ. We made this beautiful mosaic that now hangs in the entranceway of the school building

The Mural is Finished!
The anti-bullying mural at Clearview High School is finished and was formally dedicated on May 15th 2013. I am so grateful to Sandra Koberlein for writing the Artists -In- Education grant that enabled me to work at Clearview, and to Meghan Cangi for letting me take over her classroom for most of the school year. Together, with the students, we were able to create this amazingly beautiful and meaningful mosaic.

Clearview High School Anti-Bullying Mural
For the past 6 months, I have had the privilege of being artist-in-residence at Clearview Regional high School in Mullica Hill. Working with the art teachers and students on a mosaic mural has been both intense and fun. We started off back in October with a visiting poet, Shelly Benroya. Shelly helped the students to translate their stories of bullies and bullying into images that we could use to make in clay. The students worked collaboratively to generate a drawing from their poetry, that eventually has become a large scale mosaic. The final mural is not finished... yet. Please check back to see the final product.
